Seth Hahn is a Director of Photography residing in San Francisco and working internationally. In the 10 years since earning his B.A. in Cinema he has divided his career between two distinct realms of storytelling: documentary film and scripted commercial and narrative work. Always refining and reimagining how these two separate film sets can inform and enhance one another, he brings grit and realism to his commercial work and conversely adds sheen and polish to amplify underrepresented documentary perspectives.
Seth has worked with some of the top advertising agencies in the industry, including Venables Bell and Partners, FCB West, Pereira O'Dell, and Goodby Silverstein, contributing to numerous social and broadcast campaigns for a wide range of iconic brands, such as Audi, Reebok, Chipotle, Google, Levi's, Clorox, Dockers, Ghirardelli, Intel, Coca-Cola, MINI, and Nike among others
Adept in the studio or on the road, he was recently in Morocco where he filmed a documentary about a Gnawa musician's emotional journey of reconnection with his culture. Closer to home, he is currently filming with a Berekley resident and prison camp survivor about the Japanese-American Incarceration During World War II.
Other recent notable work includes the Netflix docuseries, The Pharmacist, which has gained widespread critical acclaim for its unflinching exploration of the opioid crisis. The Pharmacist has since been optioned for a narrative adaptation.
A lifelong cinephile and student of cinematography, Seth continues to refine his style and draws inspiration from cinematographers such as John Alton, Carlo Di Palma, and Gordon Willis.
